Best Practice: Video Encoding Settings
The best method to deliver streaming video to audiences worldwide is in multiple bitrates and resolutions. Playback quality depends on the viewer’s connection to the internet and device type. Most social media sites and streaming services support "adaptive bitrate" technology. During playback, the stream adjusts to the viewer’s bandwidth to receive low to high quality video. Videolinq’s top tier plans support ABR on live streams. All Videolinq plans support ABR for video-on-demand.
Before configuring a live stream, confirm the bitrate and resolution required by your destinations. (For example, YouTube accepts 4K video up to 50 Mbps*, but Facebook Live limits the stream to 1080p at a maximum of 4 Mbps.) When streaming to social media sites, we recommend sending a minimum of 720p stream at 4 MBps to Videolinq and distributing the same stream to all endpoints.
