Videolinq Powers Live Subtitles at the RTDNA Canada 2025 National Awards

This past weekend, Videolinq had the honor of supporting a national celebration of excellence in Canadian journalism - the RTDNA Canada 2025 National Awards Gala, hosted by Zuraidah Alman and Mike Eppel.

In collaboration with our production partner Toronto Audio Visual Rentals, Videolinq provided live stream production and real-time French subtitles, ensuring that audiences across Canada could experience the event in both of the country's official languages.

More than 250 journalists, editors, producers, and media leaders gathered to celebrate the enduring role of journalism in informing, challenging, and inspiring the public.

The evening opened with a thought-provoking panel discussion moderated by Kevin Newman, featuring Amar Sodhi, Sophia Skopelitis, Allison Martell, Francis D'Souza, and Sonia Verma. The discussion explored the practical and ethical implications of using artificial intelligence in news reporting - a timely and relevant topic as technology continues to shape the media landscape.

Honoring Lifetime Achievements

The gala’s most emotional moments came as Heather Hiscox of CBC, David Hughes of CTV News, and Dawna Friesen of Global News received the Lifetime Achievement Awards. Dawna’s heartfelt message, urging the next generation of journalists to uphold integrity and carry the torch of truth, resonated deeply with everyone in attendance.
